I have been a cross stitcher for 30 years. Over the past couple years I have purchased the Wintertide ornament and several bookmarks but I have never taken the plunge to learn hardanger. Once I am done with my Christmas sewing and coss stitching I am determined to learn this. But I am such a coward about actually CUTTING a piece of work…oh dear…oh the panic at the thought LOL!

Welcome!

Many of us know what you mean – the cutting can be quite daunting!  But once you get the hang of it, it could be your favorite part!  There are so many beautiful techniques, wraps, and designs that make the filling stitches so much fun!  Plus, if you do manage to snip something wrong, there are actually fix-its that you can do to "save" the piece without anyone ever knowing.  ;)

Thanks for the post.  Let us know how your projects are going – and when you decide to take the Hardanger plunge!  :)

Hi I am Threadyourneedle and live on Vancouver Island, Canada.  I am new to this so hope I am doing this correctly?  I love all types of needlework but needlepoint on canvas and cross-stitch are my favorite.  Currently I am working on a Christmas tablecloth ( I bought the kit over 30 years ago and have finally started it).  It is 47x47 inches and has four large (all the same) designs on it.  I have nearly finished the second design and am trying to stay motivated to doing 2 more designs.  It surely won't be finished for this Christmas. Smile  Wishing you all a blessed Christmas and a happy stitching 2010.

P.S.  What does no tags mean?

Hi, Threadyourneedle!   Welcome to the forums!

OOh, what is the weather like in Vancouver now?  It is snowy and cold here, as usual.  :)

We would LOVE to see your tablecloth, yes yes yes!  I am always so in awe of stitchers who complete large projects like that (mainly because I never have the motivation to do something so grand!).

Tags are used to indicate what subjects or topics each post is related to.  So if I were to post something about a canvaswork stitch, I would "tag" the post with keywords like "canvaswork", "stitches", or other related words so the topic could be found by those who are searching.  I hope that explains it a bit.

Thanks again for the post, and we are happy to have you!
