Hey everyone!

My name is Ryan, I'm 24 years old, and have been working at Nordic Needle since 2006.

My favorite types of stitching are Hardanger, Blackwork, Brazilian, stumpwork, silk ribbon… too many, really!  I also enjoy knitting, sewing, and scrap-booking.

Please feel free to introduce yourselves and suggest forums or topics of discussions for us.  We hope to make a great stitching community and resource for our friends and customers in stitching.

Welcome and happy stitching!

Hi Ginger!  Welcome to the forums.  :)

Aw, what are your cats names?  I think most of us here at Nordic have cats now – they seem to go well with stitching (lots of specialty fibers).  Haha.

Hi Ryan,

I love the things Nordic Needle sells. Have only been able to purchase 1 thing so far, but am looking forward to ordering more Hardanger patterns & threads soon. I started counted cross stitching in 1974, when they actually HAD shops to walk into and browse through. I took a Hardanger class one summer with my mother here in Santa Maria and really enjoyed it, but no one in the store does it anymore. Same with learning bobbin lacemaking several years back-totally thrilled with doing it, but had to stop for about 6 years, and I need to sit with someone to get back into the swing of the bobbins. (course, breaking your finger kinda stops the rekindling spark too. Wink ) Have tried ribbon embroidery & brazilian embroidery (I need more hands!!); definitely enjoyed crazy quilt embroidery…lots of different threads & stitches.

I'm hoping to join/start a stitching group in the Central Coast of CA, if I can find other like-minded individuals. Any classes they do have locally are during the day, but I still work and can only get together evenings or weekends. If you hear of anyone in this area interested in meeting up, please give them my name & email-I'd love to see what times they'd be available.

I have a loving husband of 34 years (this year), my 28 yr old son at home, along with my delightful "grandpuppy" Abby. My 30 yr old daughter just married her childhood sweetheart last August. For all of us, things are going well and looking up.

Big congratulations on 34 years, and the new son-in-law!  Woot!

Let me tell you, it was a pleasant awakening when I first learned about Brazlian embroidery and Nordic Needle actually has panels and panels of that gorgeous thread.  There's just nothing quite like being able to see all the threads and patterns and kits up close.  We try and do our best by representing things online, but it really just can't come close to that feeling of being in a shop!  It's so sad that many of the needlework shops are shutting down now – but thankfully stitchers are so dedicated that they continue stitching no matter what (some more than others, haha).

Hopefully we'll be able to bring more stitchers together through all these online social avenues.  You might want to check out our Facebook Page too – you know what else – we'll go ahead and make a specific forum for fellow stitchers who are looking for others in their area.

Thanks, Ryan. We truly have been blessed.

I'm so jealous that all of you can all meet at the assorted classes you have….the Temari class is something else I would've been interested in and all those pics you shared were gorgeous! (I'm one of those people that learns better by doing with someone, rather than by book)

I am hooked up with your FB page, and I appreciate the opportunity to locate others in my area.

Thanks again,

Debbie <3
