Stitcher’s Showcase: Deb Somerlot

News, Stitcher Showcase No Comments

Deb says, “I don’t have a lot of pictures of myself with my needlework, because I’m usually the one behind the camera taking all the pictures!

This is one from last February when I met with my Victoria Sampler group. We meet once a month at Cross My Heart in Columbus and work on only Victoria Sampler stuff. I am working on VS Christmas Treasures.

Fun with Nikolina at the Watnemo Farm – Northern Minnesota

News, The Nordic Needle Nisse No Comments

It seemed only fitting that Nikolina’s adventure should start with Roz. Here is her first adventure!

Nikolina spent the weekend at the Watnemo farm in northern Minnesota with Harold and Roz.

She kept busy with picking strawberries, riding on the 4-wheeler, rock climbing, and having a coffee party with Grandma Carol and her friend, Martha.

Nikolina got to celebrate the 4th of July by raising both the American and Norwegian flags.

Nikolina enjoyed relaxing a bit too and even helped Roz design and stitch a Hardanger project for the next Retreat!

She said she is ready to start her travels and looks forward to meeting people around the world and going on exciting adventures with them.

A few more invitations to visit arrived while she was on vacation with Roz. Nisse and her travel agents will put her itinerary together next week and contact the hosts to be sure the schedule works and she will begin her adventure. There is still time to get on Nisse’s schedule.

Send her an email at nisse@nordicneedle.com and be sure to put “Nisse” in the subject line.

Ryan Evelyth
  • How long have you been with Nordic Needle?

Since December 2006, so almost 5 years now. :]

  • What is your favorite needlework technique?

It’s a toss-up between goldwork and blackwork. I love the uniformity and complexity of each technique, as well as the thought process that goes into mapping out the designs. I also really enjoy Hardanger, Brazilian, and three dimensional embroidery (e.g. stumpwork).

  • What is your favorite tool, gadget, thread, or other Nordic Needle item and why?

It depends on the project, but I really love the Star De-Tailor and the Metallic Thread Scissors. I have also grown quite fond of my Illumineyes (without magnification).
