Apple Rum Dum Dessert

  • 2 c white sugar
  • One-half cup butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 and one-half tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 4 c. cut up apples
  • 1 c chopped walnuts

Cream sugar, butter and beat in eggs. Mix the dry ingredients together and combine with egg mixture. Add the apples. Spread in a 9" x 13" cake pan. Top with one cup chopped walnuts. Bake in 350 degrees oven for 45 to 50 minutes.

Caramel Sauce Topping

  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. heavy whipping cream
  • One-half c. butter
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Bring slowly to a boil and remove so it doesn’t curdle. Serve warm over the Apple Rum Dum Cake. Maybe even a dollop of whipped cream on top, if you really want to be decadent.
