Work the row of satin stitch blocks around the outside of the pattern. Cut the four threads on the outside of each satin stitch block and the same four threads several inches farther out. Draw out all threads. Wrap one, two, three or more rows of wrapping according to the pattern. Figure (20A) shows two rows of wrapping completed. To create the lacy edge, wrap the bar with #8 thread. When the corner is reached put in nine buttonhole stitches; one before the corner, on between each corner thread and one after the corner (20B). Continue wrapping the next bar. After the entire edge is wrapped and buttonholed, trim off unworked fabric threads. For added security, while stitching the outer edge lay a strand of #8 thread behind the bars to be wrapped, and stitch over this thread.
